THE WEEKEND SCHOOL
A. Sunday Classes:
Sunday classes for children and adults are open for non-Muslims also, and are conducted on the ground floor of the Mosque building. The time of these classes in winter is between 10.00 a.m. and 12.30 p.m., and in summer, between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. These classes are working admirably well. All attendants are instructed in different subjects, including: Qur’anic Arabic, prayers, and general Islamic teachings touching upon different aspects of life: religious, social and cultural. That these classes are generally too congested indicate the great interest of the Muslim community in learning about their religion, and reiterate the silent plea of the community to the Islamic Cultural Center to proceed and execute the plans of building its new school. In this respect, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Center, H.E. Mansour Al-Otaibi, made this matter one of his prime priorities. Alhamdulillah, the construction of a full time Islamic school is in the final phase. By Allah’s grace and mercy, the ICC-NY intends to start its full time school by September 2011.
B. Saturday Classes:
First, there classes are limited to Sisters who study subjects of their own choice in different hours starting from 11:00 AM and continuing sometime till Maghrib (sunset) prayer. We wish to express our deep gratitude and great appreciation for all volunteering brothers and sisters who are teaching and rendering their valuable services for the classes.
Second, there is a special class known as the Islamic Forum for non-Muslims and new Muslims every Saturday, from 1:00pm to around 4pm. This class is open to all Muslims and non Muslims alike, and is very inclusive in nature. The discussion ranges from theological to social issues in Islam.
